The next time you run the < BallStat program choose MISC then PRINTER OPTIONS and se- < lect the above three items. < <«CREATING LEAGUES < When you first create a league make sure you fill in any < divisions that you plan on using. This will save you the < trouble of having to edit all the teams in the league if < you add divisions after you created the teams. < <«MORE THAN ONE GAME PLAYED ON THE SAME DATE < If you enter game stats for more than one game played on < the same date then use the following convention for enter- < ing the game date. For 2 games played on July 4 enter the < date for the first game as 07/04/01 and the second game as< 07/04/02. Since most leagues do not cross from one year to < another the last 2 digits in the date (the year) are really< immaterial. This convention of saving dates will let you < view seperate games played on the same date with Stat View-< er 1.0. < <«CUSTOM DISPLAYS < When creating custom displays remember to use the TEAM < field for all reports that will contain players from more < than one team as this is the only way of telling which team< a player plays for. If you only create reports for use with< one team then the TEAM field can be ommitted to leave room < for an extra stat. < < < < < <Select the location where the game was played. <Select the game that you wish to work with. <Select the player that you wish to work with. <«KEY USAGE <« Function keys <« ------------- < <F1> Print statistics or information from data base. < <F3> Save statistics or information to disk. < <F5> Sort statistics or information from data base. < <F8> Set qualifying status for statistics or information.< <F10> Access help screens anywhere in program. <« The first 4 items above are available only when displayed <«at the bottom of the screen. <« Menu Keys < --------- < <UpArrow> Move selection bar up one line. < <DnArrow> Move selection bar down line. < <ENTER> Select highlighted option. < <ESC> Abort current menu. <« <Pop Box only> < <HOME> Move selection bar to first item in list.< <END> Move selection bar to last item in list. < <PgUp> or <PgDn> Move up or down one page at a time. <« Data Entry Keys < --------------- < <HOME> Move cursor to first field on screen. < <END> Move cursor to last field on screen. < <RightArrow> Move cursor one field to the right. < <LeftArrow> Move cursor one field to the left. < <DownArrow> Move cursor one field down. < <UpArrow> Move cursor one field up. < <DEL> Delete the character under the cursor. < <INS> Toggle insert and typeover modes. < <BkSp> Delete character to the left of the cursor. < <Ctrl+RtArr> Move cursor one character to the right. < <Ctrl+LfArr> Move cursor one character to the left. < <F3> Save data on screen to disk. < <ESC> Abort data entry or bring up options menu. < <PgUp><PgDn> Act the same as <HOME> and <END> < <TAB> Display next record. < <Shift+TAB> Display previous record. <« NOTE: The above 2 keys work only when displayed at <« the bottom of the screen. <Enter the 3 letter abbreviation for your opponent. <Enter the minimum amount to qualify for reports. <Enter the date the game was played. The amount<of spaces left on the display line and the number of stats <remaining are shown on the middle of the screen. As a gen- <eral rule stats that do not use a decimal point, AB,R,H etc.<will use 5 spaces on the display line and stats that do use <a decimal point, ERA,BA,AB/HR etc. , will use 8. Personal <information stats will use the same number of spaces that <they use when entering them into the database. To save a <custom display to disk press <S> after you have chosen all <the stats that you want included in the display. Chose <Q> <to exit to the main menu. < < < < < < < < <«ADD LEAGUE < Fill in all known information that the screen asks for. The titles entered here will <be displayed when you enter a players individual stats after<each game. These stats will be accumulated the same as any <stat already included in the program. Examples of these <titles would be IP for innings played or GS for games <started. <«NOTE: < The game length entry will be used as the default value <when creating teams for this league. < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < < <«ADD TEAM or EDIT TEAM < Fill in all information that is requested. Any information<that in not known when the team is being created can be add-<ed later by using the EDIT menu. Press ESC to view the <options menu or F3 to save the team to disk. Use the Name <field to enter a 3 letter abbreviation for the team you are <creating. This name will be used in the printed reports to <identify players from different teams. All the current <teams in your league can be viewed at any time by pressing <ESC then V. Press ESC then Q to quit to the main menu. If <you are editing a team that already exists on disk then make<whatever changes are necessary and press F3 to save your <changes back to disk. You may then press TAB or SHIFT-TAB to<edit a different team. < < < < <«Configure Top Ten < A check in the USE column means that stat will be shown on<the screen when you run the TOP TEN report from Ballstat 3. <A check in the A/D column means that stat will be sorted in <ascending order when shown with Ballstat 3 ( Leave the A/D <column blank to sort a stat in descending order ). After <customizing each stat save the file to disk by pressing the <F3 function key. Press the SPACE BAR to toggle the check <marks on and off. Press ESC to exit the program. You must <save the file to the same directory that the Ballstat 3 pro-<gram is located in. To make sure this happens simply place <this program in the Ballstat 3 directory. Ballstat 3 has its<own default configuration for Top Ten reports that it will <use if it does not find the TT.CNF file created by this pro-<gram. < < < < < <«ADD GAME or EDIT GAME < Adding a game to the data base is usually done after you <have entered all the players individual statistics for the <game. The information you enter here will be used to compile<league and divisional standings. However if you have to edit<a game record later then the new data will be reflected in <the standings replacing the previous data. The best reason <to enter a game after entering individuals stats is that all<the fields will be filled in for you with the possible ex- <ceptions of INNINGS and OPPONENT. The program will try to <figure the innings for you but may be off by one inning so <it is best to double check it yourself. Select your opponent<by pressing ESC then S. If your opponent is not listed on <the pop box then you will have to enter the name manually. <«IMPORTANT NOTE: < To have a game included in the league and divisional stand-<ings you MUST save the game with with game type L. Games <saved with any other type will NOT be included in standings.< < < < < < < < < < < < <«ADD PLAYER or EDIT PLAYER < You must add players to a roster before any statistics can<be added to the data base. Once you add a player to the data<base that player can not be deleted. However you can prevent<a player from being read from disk into memory simply by <changing the FIRST letter in the players name to an asterisk<(*). If you decide to reinstate the player later you can al-<ways change the name back. The number of players that can be<put on each teams roster is limited to 100. To place a play-<er on the roster simply fill out all the requested informa- <tion and and press F3 to save the data to disk. To abort the<current player press ESC. All player information can be re- <edited later if you would have to. <«NOTES: < If a players main position is pitcher, make sure the first<letter under the Positions heading is a capital P. < If you ever plan to sort by using birthdate as the sort <key it is best to put the year first. (EX: 93/01/31) < Names should be entered last name first. (EX: Habel, Pete)< < < < < < < < < < < <«ADD BALLPARKS < Add the names of all the ballparks in your league here. <This will enable you to select the game location from a menu<rather than having to type in the location each time you add<a game.
